StumbleUpon - A Great Source of Quality traffic

January 23, 2008 – 10:45 am

Most of you have already heard about StumbleUpon and heard stories about the immense impact on a site’s traffic StumbleUpon can make. StumbleUpon is used by literally tens of thousands of people across the globe and that’s where it gets it’s strength, but I’m not going to spend more time talking about how great StumbleUpon can be. I’m going to show you all how to get tons of traffic from StumbleUpon .

StumbleUpon Logo

1. First Impressions Count

Most people arrive from StumbleUpon on your site by clicking the Stumble button on their toolbar, they will only look at the site for a couple of seconds before they hit that stumble again so be sure to capture their attention the very first second they visit the site.

2. Use Proper tags and Descriptions when stumbling a site.

You know, Descriptions and Tags are the for a reason, not using them properly could be the reason why you’re not getting the utmost you can get from StumbleUpon . Try to give a lengthy yet interesting description of your page and use appropriate tags.

3. Make Friends

StumbleUpon has a great friends feature, having friends is never a bad thing and the more firiends you get on StumbleUpon the more exposure you can get. The best way to make friends on StumbleUpon is to add the people that stumbled your pages, these people are the most likely people who would want to find out more about your interests

4. Vote for pages you like

Sometimes the owners of the sites you stumble might return the favor and stumble your sites back, there’s nothing to lose is there ? :)

Well I wish you all the luck with StumbleUpon and feel free to let me know of any experiences you might have had with StumbleUpon

Well I should write an article on how to get started with StumbleUpon in the future then…

Here’s the way to do it.

1. Go to http://www.stumbleupon.com

2. Signup for an account

3. Downloade the Toolbar - Install it.

4. And you’re done :D

Hope that helps :P and that you stumble this site often :)

Hope to see you here again as well.

All you have to do is click the “Thumbs Up” I like it button on the StumbleUpon Toolbar.

I’ll sure keep on visiting your website :)

Well, I wouldn’t say it’s “quality” traffic. It’s definitely a good source for quantity, but feel free to read http://www.datmoney.com/2008/01/quantity-vs-quality-visitors-is-it-that.html I wrote that earlier.

The main idea of StumbleUpon is really great I think…But, I have read in another post (I cannot remember exactly where is it) that we have number of friend limitation in StumbleUpom. Is it correct? If so, do you know how many is the maximum?

I’ve never heard of such a think, and if it does exist I think it’s stupid. (Unless it’s some range that’s unrealistically achievable like a million friends..)

Stumbleupon I find shows me too many junky sites that I just don’t find interesting. I use it every now and then but haven’t persisted too long with it.

You don’t have to use it do you :P Just add friends and get some people to stumble your pages. I promise you’ll get some good traffic.

The first time I tried it I got a ton of traffic.
